Lessons

Lessons are  designed according to the individual rider ability and goals based on fundemental principles of dressage.

New students are welcome. I encouraged prospective students to view a lesson and discuss an appropriate program. Please contact Cody to set up an appointment.  cody@zemifarm.com

A new students starts with both the student and myself discussing the goals for training and the future of the horse and rider team. I teach my lesson with a systematic progression driven by determined goals. Equitation (position) is adressed during every ride. This is very important as our horses can’t be correct if we are not.

The Introductory lesson-( Safety and basics)  Students learn to work safely with and around horses. Each student will learn how to groom and tack their horse before and after each lesson. Students start on the lunge line so they can learn correct position for balance and become comfortable on the horse. After the lunge lesson and the student shows confidence and strength at the walk and trot they may use the entire ring.  Lesson topics might include but are not limited to: steering around cones, posting diagonals, and arena ettiquette and introductory movements.

Intermediate Lesson-  Building on previous lessons or based on previous riding experience students will learn basic dressage movement for strengthening and suppleing the horse.   Lessons topics may include: leg yields, lengthening strides in the gaits, stretchy circles, contact, transitions.
